Frequently Asked Questions
Feriepenge is holiday pay in Norway, earned based on your income from the previous year. It's a statutory right ensuring you have income during your holiday period the following year.
It's typically calculated as a percentage of your gross income from the preceding year. The standard rate is 10.2% for most private sector employees and 12% for public sector. If you are over 60 years old, an additional 2.3% is added to the calculation, but only for income up to 6 times the basic amount (6G).
"G" stands for "Grunnbeløp i folketrygden" (Basic amount in the National Insurance Scheme). It's a fundamental reference amount in the Norwegian social security system, adjusted annually, and used to calculate various benefits and thresholds, including the cap for additional feriepenge for those over 60.
