FAQs
O-toshidama is a Japanese New Year's custom where adults give money in special envelopes (pochibukuro) to children and young relatives. It's a gesture of good fortune and well-wishing.
Amounts usually vary based on the child's age, relationship to the giver, and the giver's financial situation. There are no strict rules, but common practice suggests higher amounts for older children and closer relatives.
This planner allows you to input custom names and select from common relationships. For simplicity, adding fully custom relationship types directly in the dropdown is not supported but you can use "Other Relative". You can add as many family members as you need!
